Nordic EPOD develops and delivers electrical power modules (EPODs) for data centres and operates Europe’s largest EPOD production facility. With rapid growth and an increasing need for efficient safety training and onboarding, the company required a solution that could manage the entire process quickly, securely, and at scale.
With XtraMile, Nordic EPOD transitioned from manual routines to full digitalisation—and launched its first course distribution just one week after implementation. In this case, XtraMile spoke with HSE Manager Ruth Maria Alsing Tank.

Background: From Manual Processes to Modern Digital Training
When a company grows from four employees to more than 200 in just a few years, the need for structured and efficient training increases significantly. At Nordic EPOD, personal safety training is mandatory for everyone working in production.
Previously, the process relied on paper forms, scanning, and manual reviews—a time-consuming and poorly scalable solution. Digitalisation therefore became a natural step to ensure quality, documentation, and efficient handling of both permanent and temporary staff. As Alsing Tank explains:
“We spent a huge amount of time on paperwork and scanning. It required a lot of time and resources every time someone new started.”
Ease of Use and a Complete Platform Were Key
When selecting a learning platform, usability, strong integrations, and efficient course administration were critical requirements. XtraMile stood out as an intuitive and comprehensive solution—covering everything from course distribution to documentation.
Alsing Tank highlights her first impression:
“My first impression was very positive—an extremely clear and easy-to-use system.”
The ability to integrate with the HR systems Huma and Simployer was also an important factor. These integrations provide better oversight, simpler certificate management, and significantly less manual work.
In addition, the digital PSI training ensures higher quality through built-in control questions that confirm participants’ understanding—something that is difficult to achieve with traditional manual instruction.
Rapid Growth Requires Automated Onboarding
Staffing needs can change quickly, and onboarding often has to happen at short notice. In some cases, ten new employees may start on the same day. This requires a solution that can handle training automatically, without creating administrative backlogs.
“We often have rapid hires. Things can happen very quickly here,” says Alsing Tank.
With XtraMile, the distribution of mandatory courses is set up as an automated process. New employees receive the required training as soon as they are registered in the system, eliminating the need for manual distribution and reminders from HR.
Simple Support for Multiple Languages
Nordic EPOD employs staff whose primary languages include Norwegian, English, and Polish. Multilingual support was therefore essential to ensure safe and accurate training for everyone.
XtraMile manages this by importing users with a language code, ensuring that both courses and communication are delivered in the correct language—without any additional effort for HR.
“It’s important that we can reach everyone and that they understand everything 100%,” says Alsing Tank.
A Flying Start: From Kick-off to First Distribution in 7 Days
The implementation progressed faster than Nordic EPOD had expected. Within just one week, the PSI course was produced, quality assured, and distributed—and the very first rollout achieved a 100% completion rate.
“We had our kick-off meeting on Monday and sent out the course on Friday. I would say it was very efficient and fast. It’s extremely impressive how quickly this was done”, says Alsing Tank.
The courses also worked seamlessly on mobile devices, which is crucial since not all employees have access to a PC.
“There have actually been no issues with the onboarding. The courses work just as well on mobile as they do on PC.”

Reporting from XtraMile: NordicEPOD, 100% completion rate.
Close Collaboration with XtraMile
XtraMile provides local support with rapid follow-up—an important factor in an organisation where staffing needs can change from day to day.
“I’ve asked questions and received answers very quickly. Whenever we need something, you’re there and you make it happen,” says Alsing Tank.
This level of accessibility makes implementation safe and efficient, even when requirements change at short notice.
Looking Ahead: More Courses to Be Digitalised
Following the successful implementation of the PSI course, Nordic EPOD sees strong potential for further digitalisation. Internal tool training, annual electrical safety (FSE) courses, and other procedural training are already being considered as next steps.
The goal is a single, unified platform that provides full oversight, efficient administration, and consistently high training quality. Alsing Tank summarises:
“There is definitely a lot of training and education we can streamline using XtraMile.”
Summary
The collaboration between Nordic EPOD and XtraMile demonstrates how modern digital solutions can deliver immediate impact in fast-growing, high-paced organisations. With rapid implementation, automated onboarding, multilingual support, and a 100% completion rate on the first course, Nordic EPOD has established a safe, scalable, and future-ready training process.
XtraMile not only addresses current needs but also enables continued professionalisation and digitalisation of training across the organisation.
