Course Information
Marine Fish Welfare – Refresher Course provides you with a refresher on the anatomy, behavior, and welfare needs of salmon. You’ll learn about common diseases and parasites that affect salmon, as well as methods for preventing and treating them. The course also covers current regulations and guidelines in the aquaculture industry, enabling you to make knowledge-based and ethically sound decisions.
The course is 100% online and can be completed at your own pace. Your progress is saved, and upon completion, you will meet the requirements of Section 6 of the Aquaculture Operations Regulations.
What does the course consist of?
The course is divided into seven chapters, covering the following topics:

• Basic biology and the needs of salmon
• The Aquaculture Operations Regulations and related regulations
• Diseases and Parasites
• Stress and Pain in Fish
• Implementation of Best Practices and Improvement Strategies
