What is Blended Learning?

Blended Learning

Blended learning is a training program that combines digital activities with instructor-led instruction. Participants can work independently on the theory before meeting for discussion and hands-on training. The formats are designed as parts of a coherent learning path, in which each activity has a clear role.

A Cohesive Learning Program

The defining feature is the connection between the activities, not just the availability of multiple formats. Digital lessons can provide background knowledge, while a workshop allows for questions and practical application. The instructor-led portion can take place in person or online. The formats complement each other and are tied to what the participants are supposed to learn.

Example: Blended learning

A team completes a short online course on a new work process. Afterward, the employees meet and practice specific scenarios with an instructor. A task in their daily work connects the content to real-world practice, and the manager follows up on their experiences. These activities together form a comprehensive training program.
