What is completion rate?

completion rate

The completion rate is a metric that shows the percentage of participants who have completed a course or training program. It is typically expressed as a percentage and is used to measure the completion of training among employees or other participants.

Also known as: Completion rate

What does the completion rate indicate?

The completion rate provides organizations with an overview of how many people have completed the assigned training, compared to the total number of participants.

A high completion rate indicates that a large proportion of participants have completed the training, while a lower completion rate may indicate a need for further follow-up.

However, the completion rate does not necessarily indicate how much the participants have learned or what skills they have acquired.

Example of a completion rate

A company assigns a mandatory HSE course to 100 employees. When 85 have completed the course, the completion rate is 85%.

On a digital learning platform, the company can track the completion rate in real time and see which employees have yet to complete the training.
