What is Course Administration?

Course Administration

Course administration involves organizing courses and following up with participants before, during, and after the course. This may include course dates, invitations, registration, deadlines, attendance, and documentation. The purpose is to provide both participants and course administrators with a clear overview of the training.

Also known as: Course Management, Course Administration

Administration, not content production

Course administration refers to the framework surrounding the delivery of the course. Course production refers to the development of the content. For in-person sessions, administration typically involves scheduling, instructors, and capacity, while digital courses also require managing access and tracking progress. These tasks can be performed manually or with the support of a learning platform.

Example: Course administration

A course coordinator invites employees from several departments to attend training. Participants are assigned to sessions, and registrations are recorded. After the course, attendance and documentation are verified. A colleague who was unable to attend is moved to a new session. This is course administration, not the creation of course content. A shared overview supports coordination among participants, the instructor, and the course coordinator.
