What is LMS Integration?
- LMS Integration
An LMS integration is a technical connection between a learning management system and another system. The connection can transfer data or make functions available across the systems. Common purposes include user management, login, and the exchange of training information, depending on what the systems support.
- Also known as: LMS integration (English); Integration with a learning management system
How do LMS integrations work?
The connection can use a programming interface, known as an API, or a predefined file exchange. It transfers specific information between the systems, such as user data or course status. What data is transferred, and in which direction, depends on the solution. An integration does not mean that all information is automatically synchronized in both directions.
Example: LMS Integration
An employee is registered in the HR system. Agreed-upon information about the employee’s name and department is transferred to the learning platform, where it is used to grant access. When the department changes, the integration can update this information. This example illustrates data exchange, not that the entire systems become a single solution.
