What is LXP?

LXP

An LXP, or Learning Experience Platform, is a learning platform that focuses on finding, recommending, and sharing relevant learning content. It can aggregate resources from multiple sources and support employees’ individual development goals. Features vary by provider, and the term does not refer to a uniform technical standard.

The Difference Between an LXP and an LMS

An LMS is often associated with the assignment, administration, and documentation of training. An LXP tends to place more emphasis on recommendations and self-directed exploration of content. The functions may overlap, and the terms do not provide an absolute distinction. An LXP is also not synonymous with adaptive learning.

Example: LMX

An employee wants to develop project skills and finds recommended courses, articles, and internal resources in an LXP. The content can come from multiple sources. The employee selects activities that align with their development goal, while mandatory courses may still have their own assignment and follow-up processes.
