What is Mandatory Training?
- Mandatory Training
Mandatory training is training that certain employees or target groups are required to complete. This requirement may stem from regulations, agreements, or the organization’s own procedures. The purpose is to provide the knowledge and skills necessary for the role and to ensure compliance with the requirements applicable to the work.
- Also known as: Required training; Mandatory training, Compliance training
Mandatory does not always mean required by law
Legally mandated training is required by regulations. Mandatory training may also be based on an internal requirement, such as a general introduction to the company’s procedures. Compliance training focuses on adherence to rules and guidelines. The terms overlap, but they are not exact synonyms. Who the requirement applies to depends on the role and context.
Example: Mandatory training
A company requires all new hires to complete an introductory course. Certain roles also have specific safety requirements. The platform shows which activities apply to each employee and whether they have been completed. Both are considered mandatory training, even though the basis for the requirements differs.
