What is Vendor Training?

Vendor Training

Vendor training is training provided to external individuals or companies that provide services or carry out assignments. The content is based on the client’s expectations, procedures, and relevant requirements. The purpose is to clarify how the work is to be carried out and whom the supplier should contact in case of questions or deviations.

Also known as Supplier Training

The Provider’s Role in Training

Here, the supplier is the recipient of the training, not the one selling a course. The content is tied to the work the supplier will perform for the client. This differs from customer training, which focuses on the use of a product, and partner training for those who sell or support the company’s offerings.

Example: Vendor Training

An external service company is to carry out an assignment. Employees receive a digital introduction to local procedures, points of contact, and reporting. The client can see who has completed the introduction. The training provides a shared understanding of the assignment but does not replace the supplier’s professional qualifications or necessary hands-on training.
