What is Employee Training?

Employee Training

Employee training consists of planned activities that provide employees with the knowledge and skills they need to perform their jobs. This may include courses, hands-on training, mentoring, and follow-up. Training applies to both new hires and experienced employees, for example, when tasks, systems, or procedures change.

Also known as: Employee Training; In-House Training; Corporate Training

Training Throughout the Employment Relationship

Training isn’t limited to the hiring process. It can also be provided in response to new systems, changes in procedures, or new responsibilities. It can be conducted digitally, hands-on, or with guidance. Onboarding is an introductory process that includes training, while professional development is a broader concept that also includes learning through experience.

Example: Employee training

A team is introduced to a new procedure for handling inquiries. Employees review a brief explanation and practice with simulated cases. The manager follows up on their experiences once the procedure is implemented. The training combines general information with hands-on practice related to daily tasks.
