What is Course Certificate?

Course Certificate

A course certificate is documentation that a person has participated in or completed a specific course. It may also provide information about a final assessment. What the certificate actually documents depends on the course content, the completion requirements, and the information included by the issuer.

Course Certificates and Certification

A course certificate typically indicates who completed the course, what the course covers, and who issued the certificate. A certification is based on the requirements of a specific program. The terms are therefore not interchangeable. A course certificate is also not automatically a professional qualification or proof of practical proficiency.

Example: Course Certificate

After completing an introductory course, an employee receives a certificate listing the course name, date, and the result of a knowledge test. The certificate is stored in the training history. A practical assessment is conducted later and documented separately. These two pieces of information represent different parts of the employee’s training.
